Yes humans, you read that right. Engadget and eBoy have teamed up to bring you a heartbreaking work of staggering genius -- namely, the eBoy-designed, Engadget-approved t-shirt you see above. We've got a very, very limited number of these on hand (less than 100), so if you want one, make sure you scoop it up today. If we run out here, eBoy have a small batch available as well. The 100 percent cotton, American Apparel shirts are $30 each (plus $10 for shipping and handling for up to 3 shirts, $20 for shipping and handling for anything beyond 3), and are available in S, M, L, and XL. Just follow beyond the break to see some more design detail, and use our totally reliable and not-at-all scammy PayPal purchasing options. US and international orders welcome!

Update: We've sold out of XL -- we have a few left in the other sizes though!

Update 2: Aaaaaaand mediums and larges are gone... just a couple of smalls left!

Update 3: We're sold out! Check out eBoy -- they should have some left. We'd love to know if you think you do, because we're looking to actually pay people to do this stuff. Professional writing experience isn't necessary (though it doesn't hurt), but what we really care about is that you can write skillfully about gadgets with wit, concision, and authority. And being obsessed with Engadget is good, too. We're looking for an editor in the San Francisco area.

As you may have noticed, here at Engadget we've stepped down hard on the gas pedal when it comes to reviews. We've been putting a lot of time and resources into delivering more product reviews at a faster pace, so you guys can know just exactly what you're getting into when it comes to the gear that we cover. In support of those efforts, today we're happy to introduce our review scorecards. We wanted to find a way to deliver a snapshot of our reviews in a really simple, glanceable manner, and also make those snapshots available to sort and search through. So starting immediately, we'll be including scorecards in any new review that goes up, and those cards will appear on our new reviews sorting page. Right now we've got some simple sorting options in there, but we're working on more in-depth sorting options that will allow you to drill down on specifics, so you can find exactly the product you're looking for. We're also in the process of moving backwards through our older reviews and getting cards in place, so if you see a few holes here or there, don't be surprised.

Some guidelines you should consider for these cards: firstly, the cards are based on our review at the time the post was published, meaning they're not relative to one another (unless the products were reviewed in the same category at the same time). That means that the G1 can have a higher rating than the Droid X, even though right now it's obvious that the Droid X is a superior phone. The Droid X is being reviewed now, and the G1 was reviewed then. Also, we want to provide a scale of what these numbers mean, so that there isn't any confusion. A 0 rating you'll likely never see. It means that the product was so bad we couldn't even rate it. 1 means the product is pure crap, 2-3 means that the product has a few redeeming qualities, but is not very good. 4 is an okay product, but not something we could recommend. 5 is fair; not great, but not horrible. 6 is a decent product with a few issues, 7 is a strong product with some minor flaws, 8 is a great product with few flaws. 9 is nearly perfect, and 10 (which we haven't handed out yet) is perfect.

As with any big addition to the site, we're really interested to hear what you guys have to say. If you have any input, positive or negative, sound off below in comments!
Introducing review scorecards! originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 01 Jul 2010 13:40:00 EDT. Is it possible we've been so busy we didn't notice our Android app getting a handful of totally fresh new features? Maybe, but hey -- you still win. If you're an Android user, you might like to know that some time last week we flipped the switch on an update to our app that includes some pretty sexy new features, such as search and video playback inline (for Froyo devices). Additionally, our webOS app was recently bugging out, but that issue has since been fixed. Of course, the iPhone and BlackBerry apps are still available and as fly as ever -- so go grab a copy right now! We're including the changelog for the Android app after the break, too. Feel free to nerd out on that.
Continue reading Engadget app updated for Android and webOS

Engadget app updated for Android and webOS originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 28 Jun 2010 19:29:00 EDT. If you tuned in to this month's Engadget Show (and you did, right?), then you caught a glimpse of our recent jaunt to Bristol, Connecticut where we toured the inner workings of the world leader in broadcast sports. ESPN's got far more technology going on than you might imagine, with an entire "emerging technology" group dedicated to sprucing up the content you see on screen. We couldn't quite squeeze everything into The Show, so here we've cut up an extended version of our tour that shows off even more of the magic behind the scenes. Ever wonder if a place like ESPN would rely on common toys like an Xbox 360 or iPad to control on-screen play demonstrations? Curious to know what kind of sensor tag technology is being worked on to give viewers a real-time look at how high skateboards (and eventually snowboards) are getting in halfpipe? Hop on past the break and mash play -- there's a lot more to ESPN than just homers, World Cup equalizers and Not Top 10s.
Yeah, that's right, we're six years old this week. Thanks for noticing, jerks! Actually, we forgot too (it was Tuesday), and to make up for it we're giving away a Motorola Droid, courtesy of Verizon Wireless! The phone was recently selected as the Gadget of the Year both by you, our illustrious readers, and by this rapidly-aging Engadget staff you hold so dear, so we didn't think you'd mind. But that's not all -- the winner of the Droid and 10 lucky runner-ups will also receive one of our fancy new Engadget t-shirts! All you have to do is leave a comment to tell us how much you care (about us, not the environment) and you'll be entered to win. The full instructions and typical rules can be found after the break. Good luck!
Continue reading Engadget's 6th birthday giveaway: 'Gadget of the Year' edition

Engadget's 6th birthday giveaway: 'Gadget of the Year' edition originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 05 Mar 2010 18:00:00 EST.
Hey BlackBerry friends -- we've got some news for you. The Engadget application (which is also available for the iPhone / iPod touch and webOS devices) has gone and gotten itself a little update on RIM's platform. It's nothing crazy, but we've made some bug fixes, and more importantly, added support for 5.0 devices (Bold, Curve, and Tour)! The devs also thoughtfully included keyboard shortcuts (T, B, N, P, and the spacebar) in this version for your convenience. All you have to do to get your hands on this baby is point your phone's browser to our download page, or if you've already got the app installed, it should prompt you for an update automatically next time you open it. Storm users -- we are working on a version for you as well, and everyone who is curious about the Android app: you should see it released this month!
The Engadget app for BlackBerry gets updated to 1.0.1 originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 03 Mar 2010 19:45:00 EST. digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/Engadget_for_iPhone_iPod_touch_2_0_1_now_available';
Hey guys, some fun news to share: Engadget for iPhone / iPod touch 2.0.1 was just approved by Apple and is now available on the App Store! The big new feature is landscape mode in article, comment, and sharing views, but we've also bumped up font sizes, made some improvements to the commenting experience, and added the ability to edit tweets directly in the app. Oh, and you can also now email photos from galleries from within the app, and customize the toolbar. Of course, that's in addition to our regular features like offline viewing, built in streaming for The Engadget Show, and in-app tip submissions -- you know, for when you see the iPhone 3GT leak out.

So what are you waiting for? You can download the app right here, or just click the image above -- if you've already got it installed the update should be waiting for you right this second. Full changelog after the break.

Once again, a big thanks to the team at AOL that makes these apps happen: Sun Sachs, Andy Averbuch, Hareesh P, Anibal Rosado, Rajesh Kumar, Rich Foster, Claudeland Louis, Mike Wolstat, Eric Wedge, Vikas B R, Milissa Tarquini, Asha Indira and Bob Gurwin. High fives all around.

P.S.- Updates for the BlackBerry and webOS apps should hit in March, and that's also when we're scheduled to launch our Android app -- stay tuned!
Continue reading Engadget for iPhone / iPod touch 2.0.1 now available!

Engadget for iPhone / iPod touch 2.0.1 now available! originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 24 Feb 2010 10:00:00 EST. We know it's a really busy week, but we wanted to take a moment and remind all of you that there's still time left to nominate your favorite gadgets of last year for the 2009 Engadget Awards!

For your voting (and nominating) pleasure, we present the sixth annual Engadget Awards! The premise is simple: 2009 may have slipped through our fingers, but all the memories of gadgets-past are still with us (some in a more favorable light than others). Here's your chance to sound off on what you loved in 2009, and tell us what you're psyched about for 2010.

This year we've got 24 categories up for grabs, with 48 total awards to be decided. All finalists for Engadget Awards are reader-nominated, and the editors of Engadget will then select the best of those nominations (usually somewhere between 4-6 devices or technologies) as finalists.

There are two awards per category, Reader's Choice (voted on by you!), and Editors' Choice (selected by us). The vote will take place in a few weeks once the nominees are picked, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

You can find all the info and nominees on a landing page we've built this year which should make it easier to get all your selections in (and vote once we've picked the finalists). Just click right here.

You've got until 11:59PM ET on Wednesday, January 27th, 2010 to get your entries in. Now, go nominate, or use the handy list after the break!
Continue reading Reminder: nominate your favorite gadgets in the 2009 Engadget Awards!

Reminder: nominate your favorite gadgets in the 2009 Engadget Awards! originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 25 Jan 2010 15:45:00 EST. CES is Engadget's biggest event of the year, but for the most part we don't have any requirements on what editors should bring other than "a laptop" and "a camera." That means there's usually quite an array of devices and tools on hand -- and every year we try some new things that make an immediate impression. We threw out some basic gear statistics in our annual CES wrap-up post, but we also wanted to highlight some super-useful new tools we brought to Vegas with us this year. Some of it is state-of-the-art expensive, some of it is brain-dead simple, but all of it helped us rock out our biggest CES ever.
